500ml PET bottle
Reusable, lightweight and non-fragile. This makes it a great alternative to glass bottles, which although widely used today, have their weaknesses.
After use, rinse with warm, soapy water and allow to drain upside down. Before bottling, rinse with an acid disinfectant, allow to drain and the bottle is ready for filling.
Avoid using a bottle washing brush, as this can easily scratch the inside of the bottle, making it easier for bacteria to colonise the bottle, just like plastic fermentation buckets.
These bottles are made of a material with reduced gas diffusion, which allows the beer to stay fresh for longer.
However, for long-term storage (6+ months), we still recommend using glass bottles, so PET bottles are best for beers that are not long-aged.
However, if you brew oxidation-sensitive types often, e.g. IPA, Hazy IPA, NEIPA, PET will become your best friend very soon!
This is because when bottling, after filling the PET bottle, if you squeeze the bottle slightly so that the beer level reaches the level of the rim of the bottle and roll the cap on, you effectively exclude oxygen from the system completely. This will extend the enjoyment of your cold-hopped beer by up to weeks, as oxidation will not ruin it.
Another great advantage of bottling in this way is that you will see and feel the slightly compressed bottle start to kick out when the resulting carbon dioxide pressure starts to develop in it. In this way we can easily tell, without opening the bottle, whether the carbonation in the bottle has been successful and we won't have any more unpleasant surprises.

The caps are rolled on the bottles before shipping to protect the bottle during transport. This way, the bottle cannot be pushed in during transport.
