Sparkling or table ale existed in the 1800s and survived Prohibition. It is the top-fermented equivalent of the American aces type. Top-fermented (ale) was brewed by brewers to compete with aces beer in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
It was originally known as a sparkling or table ale. Many brewers used lager yeast (sometimes still do), it was not mixed with top-fermenting yeasts at the time. Many beers are bubbled using the 'kräusen' process. A smooth yet sweet drinking beer, a must for American garden parties.
